Phoenix Racing announced that Johnny Sauter will drive the #1 Yellow Dodge in the 2005 Busch Series. Team owner James Finch said "I know he is going to get in the car and drive his heart out every week."

DRIVER MILESTONES
Mark Martin will make his 600th career Cup start this weekend, as well as his 542 in a row. He has 41 poles, & 34 wins.
Also Ricky Rudd is making an astounding 750th consecutive Cup start, Rudd started in the series back in 1975.

Whether you like the current point system or not, you've got to feel bad for Jamie McMurray. He's currently 11th in points with absolutely no shot at cracking the top 10 under the new rules. He's been running so well lately, that under the old point system he'd be 6th, and under the current point system he'd be 2nd had he gotten in after Richmond....that's gotta hurt.

Rusty Wallace has been penalized by NASCAR for the incident with his teammate Ryan Newman on pit road in Martinsville. For his frustration, his wallet will be $10,000 lighter. There was contact between the 2 and 12 cars after the race, keep in mind Rusty is part owner of Ryan Newman's 12 team.

TESTING | KENTUCKY
A couple of cars will circle the track this week, including Jeremy Mayfield in the #19 Dodge, and R & D driver for Hendrick Motorsports Blake Feese will test their set ups.

Richard Childress Racing announced over the weekend that Jeff Burton will move over to drive the #31 Cingular Wireless Chevrolet in 2005. Cingular has also extended their contract through 2007 with RCR. No word yet on the 30 car.

TESTING | HOMESTEAD MIAMI

Tons of teams at the track this week, including 7 of the top 10 teams, plus Jamie McMurray, Michael Waltrip, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick, Bobby Labonte, Travis Kvapil and more. They are all gearing up for all of the season finales.

Jimmie Johnson wins his 3rd race in a row for Hendrick Motorsports, it's his 7th this year, and rockets up to 2nd in points

OTHER STORIES ON THE DAY

Many in the Chase for the Championship had awful days.

First Kurt Busch blew is engine, DNF and finishes 42nd

Jeff Gordon had handling problems all day, then his rear end gears breaks, finishes 34th

Matt Kenseth also broke a motor and finished 41st

Ryan Newman fought handling problems

Elliott Sadler got wrecked on pit road by Joe Nemechek and tore up his steering

And Dale Earnhardt Jr. wrecked while running 3rd late in the race by Carl Edwards, Dale took responisblity for the crash

The points got all shaken up, and we'll run those down on tomorrow's show.

BUSCH SERIES
On Saturday Matt Kenseth took the in win the Busch series, then later also won the IROC race, the IROC Championship, and a million dollars.
