Tony Stewart has been fined $50,000, loses 25 driver/owner points, and put on probation until August 18th for his incident with Brian Vickers at Infineon this past weekend. Tony drops from 5th to 6th in points, and Brian did not receive any penalties. NASCAR CEO Brian France said "It is a big deal. But his behavior at Sears Point is unacceptable. Tony has to work within the same rule structure and behavioral expectations that we have for all of our drivers. And one way or the other, we will figure that out."

The following is a statement from Tony Stewart:

"I understand and accept NASCAR's penalty.  With NASCAR's continued growth and their rise in mainstream popularity, I realize their rules have become stricter than they were in the past.  And after meeting with Brian France (NASCAR Chairman and CEO), I know it's my job to live within those rules.

"I'm putting this incident behind me and I plan no further comments.  I'm going to focus on Daytona and the remaining races before the final 10-race run for the championship."
