Robby Gordon / Dakar Rally update, in Stage 6 Robby rolled and wrecked his VW going more than 100mph, then lost the lead and fell 6 hours off the pace. Robby will continue despite the setback and a cut on his hand.
Recently I told you about the 3 Roush drivers Kurt Busch, Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth planning on running in the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Now you can add some more NASCAR drivers to the list. Jamie McMurray, Casey Mears, Scott Pruett, Terry Labonte, Bobby Labonte, and Tony Stewart.
Billy Wilburn left Penske Racing to head up the #61 Truck driven by Brendan Gaughan in at least 16 races this season. Billy had been with Penske for 14 years and said "I had a lot of great opportunities and Penske's been a huge part of my career. Everything I've learned in Cup racing was through Penske."
Ford Racing announced that 9 year Champ Car veteran Michel Jourdain (me-shell Jor-dane) Jr. of Mexico will drive full time for PPC Racing in the Busch Series this year. He's the first hispanic to drive full time in the series, and will be teammates with Kenny Wallace.

A Robby Gordon update in the Dakar Rally in Europe, he has wrecked his VW and drops to 10th in the standings. Robby is okay.
Preseason Thunder at Daytona starts next week believe it or not, and here is the schedule.
Jan 11-13 will be Cup cars that finished with odd owners points (like Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon, and Dale Jr.)
Jan 15-16 The Truck Series takes to the track
Jan 18-20 Cup cars that finished with even owners points (like Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, and Tony Stewart)
Jan 22-24 The Busch Series get the track

CMT will feature a night of NASCAR on January 28th from 8-11pm. The first two hours will be the CMT 40 Greatest NASCAR moments, followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Uncut: 60 Minutes Special with Mike Wallace. It's more footage from the 60 minutes special that aired last year, and will cover everything Dale Jr. from his personal life, to his crash at Sonoma. January 28th, on CMT
More NASCAR on TV, this time on Animal Planet. On February 17th at 8pm, the cable channel will feature NASCAR drivers and their family pets. Get to know the animals of Todd Bodine, Ryan Newman, Jeff Burton, Richard Petty and more.

Office Depot and NASCAR have partnered up for 2005, with Office Depot becoming the official office products for the sport. This will include NASCAR displays in all 900 stores, TV ad campaign during race telecasts, plus customer promotions.
Starting this year, NASCAR is requiring the use of the HANS head and neck support device for the top three racing series. This means drivers currently using the HUTCHEN'S device need to start using the HANS anytime they strap into their car. Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman are a couple of drivers who will need to make the switch.
The rock band 3 Doors Down will take the stage during the 27th annual Budweiser Shootout. Lead Singer Brad Arnold will sing the National Anthem, then after the race the band will kick off their world tour with a post-race concert which will be televised by FOX. Dale Earnhardt Jr. said "(3 Doors Down) are great guys and a great live band, I've known them for years, and they are big race fans.

Robby Gordon lost stage 2 of the Dakar Rally in Europe driving his VW Tourag, but retook the overall lead by winning stage 3 of the 5,566 mile race. It covers the area between Barcelona Spain, to Dakar Senegal, and will wrap up on January 16th.
Both NBC and then FOX recently announced that the entire 2005 season will be broadcast in High Definition Television. FOX will start their enhanced coverage during speedweeks at Daytona, and NBC at the July Daytona race.
A new racing reality series is looking for America's Top Drivers, hosted by champion Cale Yarborough....so if you think you have what it takes to win the $1 million dollar prize, and a 3 race contract.

Robby Gordon won the opening round of the Dakar Rally road race, and the first American to ever do so. Robby is driving a Volkswagen sponsored by Red Bull, in his first ever attempt in this race. The entire race started over the weekend, and ends on January 16th covering 5,553 miles, includes 696 vehicles, with 39 countries being represented. We'll keep you updated right here as to Robby's progress.
Roush Racing announced recently that Superchips will return as the primary sponsor of their #99 Ford F-150 Truck this year. Ricky Craven takes over the ride since Carl Edwards moves up to the #99 Cup car for Roush. Superchips will also will enlist the services of drivers Mark Martin, Carl Edwards, and rookie Todd Kluever to promote their brand of automotive tuners.
Hermie Sadler will be running his first full season in the Cup Series this year. Peak Fitness will be the primary sponsor, and James Ince will take on the crew chief duties.
Sterling Marlin will go Busch racing this year for FitzBradshaw racing's new #40 car. Cottman Transmission Systems will sponsor the car for 8 races, and be an associate sponsor for 27 races.
